Earlier tonight I completed the classes that wrapped up six weeks of classes. The semester is flying by nicely thanks in large part to football season being here. I had my first two tests this week. I have no idea how I did. A lot of these upper level classes unfortunately require a lot of textbook reading in order to be really successful. I've determined that it's not important enough to me to read chapter after chapter in a textbook in order to excel in these classes, so we'll see how things go.

I played a little bit of poker last Sunday. I found an 11th place finish (out of 103) in the $10,000 WCOOP HORSE event which was good for like $26,000. First was $250,00 so the finish was bittersweet. Still, it's nice to go deep in a tournament like that where almost all of the players are extremely, extremely good.

There's very little else going on in my life worth writing about. I'm off to a nice start in my Fantasy Football league. I'm 2-0 and ranked 2nd of the 12 of us. I accidentally drafted a good team I think. There's still a long, long way to go, but it'd be nice to beat my friends out of some money if I can win this thing :)

Hi all. Thanks for reading. I know I'm not updating much. Since I last posted I've enjoyed two football weekends. I was over in Atlanta for Bama vs Virginia Tech. Bama won that one in a very exciting game, 34-24. This past weekend we beat a scrappy Florida International team 40-14.

School is whatever right now. I'm in the middle of the fifth week and have yet to have any major assignments or tests. I have had a lot of group work, so I'm staying busy enough. I only have classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but essentially I have to keep my schedule free all five business days to allow time for group meetings. That said, I almost surely won't play another live poker tournament until the $15,000 Five Diamond event at Bellagio in December. I feel like I'm just kind of going through the motions with school right now. I put everything off until the last minute. Still, I always get everything done and can still pretty accidentally make a 3.5+ GPA in these classes. I wrestle with whether I should work harder. Looking back to high school and my first stint in college I think I did the same thing though. Thursday I have to get up in front of my 70 person in class and give this presentation, which is gonna be miserable. I'ma keep grinding it out though and graduate in a little under 8 months.

Poker has still been slow. I've played the last two Sundays with some close calls but no major scores. I did have a poker-related business venture go my way last Sunday so for a significant score. Like I said this summer in Vegas, it's pretty bad ass to sit back and watch someone else make you money in swaps or investments. As a man though, you still want to be wrecking the tournaments yourself, and it doesn't make sleeping any easier when someone else is carrying the load.

I blinked and all of a sudden three weeks of school are complete. Things are going ok. The classes are bearable. All of these Management classes require a bunch of group work, so I've joined teams in all 5 of my classes. Usually this group work is pretty annoying, but what can you do? It'll be cool to meet some new people.

Last weekend in North Dakota for Cody and Renee's wedding was awesome. ND was a really peaceful place that kind of reminded me of Alabama. On Friday night we went to the rehearsal dinner and then out to the bars. Saturday we put down about 15 beers and 15 shots after the ceremony at the rehearsal and then went to a bonfire at Renee's parents' house, and on Sunday we woke up late then went over to Cody's mom's house for a nice barbecue. It was a memorable time that I know won't soon forget.

Tonight I'm headed up to Birmingham to go to my sister's husband's brother Patrick's wedding reception. Tomorrow I'll head over to neutral Atlanta to watch #5 Alabama football vs. #7 Virginia Tech in what will be a huge, exciting game. It's hard to believe football season is here. I, for one, am extremely pumped.
