Eww, it's been 12 days since last update. Since I last updated not too much has been going on. Bama's last football game was a week and a half ago where we didn't have much trouble against Mississippi State. We were idle this past weekend and still sit at the top of the BCS standings. This weekend Auburn comes to Tuscaloosa for the annual Iron Bowl. Auburn has had a rough season but will be playing for bowl eligibility, so it won't be easy. They've also beaten Bama in the last 6 contests. Bama basketball has already kicked up, so things are pretty exciting around here.

Aside from spending a ton of time watching football, not too much else is going on. School is just about over for the semester. Next week is dead week, which is just the week before exams. I actually have just two exams the following week though. One of my classes is already complete, and two others I have sort of easy projects due next week and that'll be it. I will be in Las Vegas by late Tuesday, December 9th.

This past weekend I went to Birmingham to relax. I joined a bunch of my friends at the bar for a couple drinks on Saturday night. At some point around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning the discussion of NFL came up between me and my friends Justin and Cole. I was pretty sure Brett Favre and the Jets were in Nashville later that day to play the unbeaten Titans. I verified it on my cell phone, and we decided that we were gonna go :) This is the kind of cool shit I do with my roommates in Vegas, so it was nice to kind of relive those experiences. We got some food at this late night place, Al's, on the southside of Birmingham and then got a ride to a friend's house to relax for a couple hours. We were on the road by 6 a.m. without any sleep. We arrived in Nashville around 9 and went straight to the bars on Broadway including world famous "Tootsie's". They had an early bird special 2 for 1 beers, and we made sure not to miss any value. At 11:15, we stumbled across the pedestrian bridge to LP field. We found a pretty good deal for 3 tickets together in the club level and made it inside for the kickoff at noon. We knocked down a bunch of beers in the game and we all fell asleep at least once. The Jets pretty much blew out the Titans. It was cool to see Favre play.

After the game we headed over to a friend of mine's house in Nashville to shower and relax some more. Then, Sunday night we returned back to Broadway street to eat and drink a lil more. It was an unbelievable trip. When we finally got to sleep we'd been awake about 40 hours straight and had been drinking through the majority of those hours. I'll never forget it. I'm glad I'm young, single and can afford to do it.

I've been updating so infrequently that I forgot to mention I've been eating really healthy and weigh just 197 lbs as of this morning. This is the least I've weighed in 3 years. If I could get down to like 185 I'd be really happy. Alas, Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I'm sure I'll gain like 8 lbs. I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving. As much as we all bitch everyday, we all still have so much to be thankful for. Life could be much worse.

I did a thing called "The Well" on twoplustwo where I answered questions about poker, life, my career path, etc. I put a lot of time into it, so I hope you guys will check it out. Feel free to ask questions. Click here

EDIT: Here are a couple of interviews that I enjoyed:

This one is an interview of my buddy Mike Katz with the lovely Kristy Arnett.

This one is an interview with Peter Eastgate and the other WSOP main event final tablists. Fast forward to 6:31 into the video to check out the interview with Eastgate. I was very pleased to see Eastgate win the tournament because I think he'll be a great ambassador to the game. Check out how well the 22 year old Dane handles himself during his 114 seconds with Cardplayer's Ryan Lucchesi.

Hayyyyyy there. It's been 9 days since I last posted. Last weekend I headed down to Baton Rouge with my sister Heather, her boyfriend Ben, and Heather's (and now my) friends Tyler, Aeana, and Tiffany. We left Tuscaloosa around 1:30 p.m. Friday and arrived at our Hampton Inn hotel in Baton Rouge around 6:15. Ben, Tyler and I grabbed some beers at the grocery store across the street and got to work as the girls got ready. We then found a cab driver who was cool enough to let us ride 6 deep in his standard cab. We intended on eating at some restaurant called The Chimes, but it was packed and a two hour wait. We were relegated to this not-so-conventional Mexican restaurant next door called Serranos. We waited about half an hour and then got seated outside. Our server was just awful and the the dinner took like 2.5 hours. I don't know that I've ever been so tilted in my life at a restaurant :) The waiter's name was Cameron, so make sure to change sections if you ever visit this restaurant. After dinner and drinks we hit this bar called Reggie's that was fun. Tyler and I quickly disposed of like 19 double well bourbon and cokes. The crowd was really young and it smelled like puke but whatever. Wayne Mills was playing outside. Interestingly, he was chanting Roll Tide and stuff on stage. I would've kicked him out if I was the bar owner and an LSU fan.

Next, Tyler and I headed over to meet one of my poker friends, Bryan, next door at a bar called Fred's. Sickkk name for a bar in my opinion. Place was packkkkkked out. Bryan bought like 200 bucks worth of jager bombs. We stayed until closing and then the same cabby took us back to the hotel. We got to sleep around 4 a.m. Somehow, we were up and moving around by 8 a.m., still wasted from the night before. This is really hard to do, but you just kind of get used to in during football season in the south. We ate the continental breakfast (lol) and all 6 got a shower. We decided to drive to campus where Heather's work friends had an insane tailgate set up. We ate some catfish, drank a dozen beers and then headed into the stadium.

The game was just ridiculous. Bama ended up prevailing in OT 27-21. We had a chance to end the game as time expired in regulation but kicker Leigh Tiffin had his 29 yard attempt batted down at the line. It was a game that I will never, ever forget. After the game we hung around the tailgate for a little while. Later, we headed to Chili's for dinner. We talked about going out but had no energy left and expired around midnight.

I got home in time to play about 8 or 9 tournaments on Sunday. I did nothing early on and then flirted with some real cash when I finished 20th in the 200r for a couple thousand or something. It was not enough to turn the day into a winner.

I played poker, strangely, all 3 days Monday through Wednesday. It was the first time I've worked 3 consecutive days in ages. I had some FTOPS success cashing in 3 of the 5 FTOPS events that I've entered. Sadly, I still don't think I turned a winner. I also finished 20th or something in the Stars nightly on Tuesday and finished 12th out of like 130 entrants in the Absolute 1000 dollar tournament on Wednesday. Late Wednesday night I was tilted to no end when my internet connection went out deep in the FTOPS 300r. I blinded out for a while then came back and slowplayed myself to death with two Kings for a 108th place finish. It's really frustrating that I've been unable to close these online tournaments. I feel like I'm right in the hunt in all of them though.

I've decided to just skip the 5000 dollar tournament tomorrow. I'm sick because it hurts to pass up that kind of value, but alas Bama has a chance to improve to 11 and 0 tomorrow against Mississippi State and someday I'll regret not going.
