Pretty decent Sunday. I woke up early and decided to play the entire slate online. I had a couple of shallow cashes, but the big score came in the form of a third place finish in the Sunday Warmup. The finish was worth $67,567 and is my second biggest score ever in an online MTT. I felt really in the groove all day and definitely ran above expectation, which always helps. Three handed I got myself in a pretty gross situation when I felt like the stacks and the current dynamic dictated a limp/raise all-in from the SB with two black tens. Unfortunately the guy checked. Flop 4h3h2s. I led 515000 and called a raise to 1.3M. Turn 3. I checkraised his 2.2M turn bet all-in for 10M and was snapped off by twos full.

Gonna read a little, wake up early, go to the gym, then play $1500 PLO. This score was nice to get me close to unstuck on the week after the $40k event. I've been lucky that everytime I've been on a financial skid in poker (except for one stint between late 2006 and mid 2007) I've been able to find a tournament score to restore my confidence.

Just an awful performance in yesterday's $1000 NLHE event. Maybe the worst effort I've given in a live tournament in a couple years. I was out really late drinking the night before and didn't show up to play.

I found a table recognizing only Yosh Nakano. Early on I quickly got to 4500 or so. One of the first hands of the day a guy opened from EP for 75 at 25/25, a guy called in MP, and I called red fives. Flop J54 two hearts. Checked to me, I bet 200 into 275. Original raiser checkraised me to 600. I raised to 1500 and he quickly folded. I won one more pot against same guy when I opened from MP to 75 with 5h5s, got called by a bad player on the button, and said player called. Flop 8h8x4h. Checked to me I bet 200 and only said player called. Turn 2h. Check-Check. River Ad. Checked to me and I almost talked myself into a Katie Holmes-thin value bet but checked. Guy turned over 64o and I had the best hand.

From there I think I won one more pot. I made this impatient bluff in a 4 way limped pot where I got to check Th5d in the BB. Flop T73 all clubs. Checked around. Turn 2s. SB led 200 into 100 and I found a call. River 9c. He checked and I turned my hand into a bluff and bet 400. He quickcalled with QJcc.

I busted in the fifth hour of the omaha eight or better tournament this afternoon. I don't think you can do a whole lot of analyzing, complaining, or blogging about a 9 handed $1500 omaha 8 tournament. I'll do my best to do all 3 of the aforementioned in the next 500 words. I'll say that I did enjoy my time playing this tournament. There's something sort of fun about reporting to work in the environment that I experienced today. Especially in the early levels, there isn't much if any real pressure and the game was social and enjoyable.

I found a table with a group of mainly older, nitty gentlemen that I didn't recognize. Alex Gomes was the only player I recognized to my direct right. Alex really played well and ran sensationally (esp against me). I was up and down between the 4500 starting stack and 6000 in the first couple levels.  I took 4550 to break. I came back from break and things just didn't exactly work out. A few pots quickly that led to my demise:

At 1/200 limits a twenty-something kid raised from MP to 200, was called right behind, I called with AdAsTd9c in the SB and BB folded. Flop Qd8d7c. I checked, guy bet, guy called, I went ahead and raised it with world draw, got 3bet to 600, guy folded I called. Turn Kx.I checkcalled and river was like a fucking offsuit 3 or 4 and I  have a clear checkfold. Guy was nice enough to tell me he had two pair, diamonds and then the nut low on the end. I was 2850. Then, a sort of redic one came up. A couple limps I limped QT32 on the button. Flop QQ5r. Megafish led out, Alex called with an obv Q I called with my semi-bad Q. Turn 3. Fish led 200, Alex called, I raised it. Both called. River 9. They checked to me, I bet, fish called, and as Alex splashed chips in I was just about to open my hand before realizing he raised it. akslhfdajksdhfkjadsfkjkjafd. I chunked the 3rd nut boat and fish found a call. Alex showed KKQ9. Phew.
